Traditional Brit Milah Services with Rabbi Merlin

Honouring Jewish Tradition with Meaning, Care, and Connection

Rabbi Merlin offers authentic, traditional Jewish Brit Milah (Bris) services for Jewish families and communities.

The Brit Milah is the Jewish covenant of circumcision, performed on baby boys born to Jewish mothers. It is also a key part of conversion for males joining the Jewish faith. This ancient and sacred tradition goes back to our forefather Abraham, passed down from generation to generation as a sign of our eternal connection with G-d.

What Is the Brit Milah Ceremony?

The Bris is far more than a medical procedure — it’s a spiritual and meaningful event, welcoming a Jewish boy into the covenant and into the Jewish people.

Rabbi Merlin guides each family through the ceremony with warmth and clarity, so everyone present feels connected to the moment and understands its importance. Whether in your home, synagogue, or another location, Rabbi Merlin ensures the experience is respectful, traditional, and uplifting.

What Happens at a Brit Milah?

The ceremony includes the following steps:

Kvatter and Kvatterin (G-dparents)

A married couple or special guests chosen to bring the baby into the Bris room — a role considered a great honour and a source of blessing.

The Chair of Elijah

A seat prepared in honour of the Prophet Elijah, who is believed to be present at every Bris.

The Sandak

A respected guest who holds the baby during the Bris — considered one of the highest honours.

The Mohel (Rabbi Merlin)

Performs the circumcision on behalf of the father, following all halachic (Jewish legal) and medical standards with the utmost care.

The Naming Ceremony

After the circumcision, your son receives his Hebrew name, publicly and for the first time.

The Festive Meal (Seudat Mitzvah)

Family and friends come together in celebration, with special blessings said for the child and his future.
